JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Eberly College of Science IT team is currently searching for an Assistant Director of Technology Operations. This critical position works to align the tactical output of the service desk and infrastructure teams and ensures consistency in process, project management, and documentation for technical support specialists, consultants, and system administrators.   

The perfect candidate for this role is someone who values both staff and stakeholders with empathy and attention. We are looking for someone who can help advocate for college needs across their university peer groups and collaborate on creating consistency and alignment.   

The Assistant Director of Technology Operations plays a vital role in the college’s information security initiatives, helping to weave Penn State Office of Information Security’s directives into our service management and daily decision making.  

Education and Experience:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional experience and/or education and competencies is a plus. 

To be considered for this position, an applicant should have:  

  • A combination of experience in operations areas: service desk, infrastructure, or consulting   

  • Experience with service, project and change management

  • Excellent communication, particularly taking technical concepts and communicating to a varied audience

  • Previous leadership training and experience in a STEM college are a plus.

Additional Information: The IT Managers on our team continue to operate under a hybrid schedule – part of your work week will be onsite, at the University Park campus, and part of it will be remote.
