Summary of Position

Under administrative review of the USNH/UNH
CIO, provide vision and leadership to advance the strategic use of data across all institutions within the University System. Areas of
responsibility include Master Data Management, Institutional Research/Assessment, Reporting/Data Visualization, CRM Tools, and UNH
Advancement Technology Services. Provide executive leadership support of strategic planning, organizational goals, partnership building,
human and fiscal management, policy and program development, succession planning, and overall decision-making. Be an active member of the
Enterprise Technology & Services senior leadership team working to develop team members and mature the overall capabilities of the
organization.
Requires travel to all USNH institutions.

qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and eight years of experience in information technology field, Master’s and six years, or
combination of education and experience equal to twelve years. Broad understanding of both management and technical problems and solutions
with ability to implement most advanced solutions. Thorough and broad knowledge in area of expertise, from underlying principles to highest
level of implementation and ability to apply those skills. Comprehensive information technology and management skills. Familiarity with USNH
information technology systems.

Duty/Responsibility

Leadershipan>

  • Serve as visionary, diplomat, convener, and liaison across communities and stakeholders within USNH institutions regarding the
    Center for Data, Master Data Management, Institutional Research/Assessment, Reporting/Data Visualization, CRM Tools, UNH Advancement
    Technology Services, their operations and performance metrics, and underlying technologies.
  • In collaboration with academic and
    administrative leaders, faculty, governance groups, and committees, devise strategy, formulate goals, initiate programs, and develop
    policies to support and enhance the student, faculty, and staff experience. Stay abreast of best practices, emerging technologies, and
    trends in higher education for adoption across USNH institutions. Develop proposals for funding from the USNH long range technology plan
    and, if approved, drive implementation, and establish plan for sustaining technology services.
  • Serve as ambassador for USNH’s
    Center for DATA’s and related services to groups internal and external to USNH such as the Board of Trustees, and representatives from
    other universities, business, and foundations. Serve as a visible participant in professional networks and actively engage as a leader in
    innovation. Build relationships with key state, community, and corporate constituencies.
  • Continuously look for ways to optimize
    functionality and performance with internal and external partners.
  • Ensure technologies interface seamlessly and fully leverage
    other technologies and capabilities across the Enterprise Technology & Services environment.
  • Lead institutional data management
    initiatives and coordinate other interdisciplinary data management initiatives.
  • Engage with State Agencies to provide leadership
    for initiatives involving both the State of New Hampshire and USNH
  • Oversee data governance and quality (e.g., data standards, data
    definitions, metadata), organizational strategy for business intelligence and reporting standards, while promoting data-driven decision
    making across all campuses and advocating for a “single version of the truth”.
  • Provides cost analysis and estimates to help the
    business community understand the impact and timing of new initiatives.
  • Provides consultation on how to strategically leverage data
    to increase departmental effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Provides consulting services to business areas seeking direction on how to
    leverage existing data and systems for the benefit of the organization. Includes advising on how data from tangential systems can be best
    utilized.
  • Accountable for maintaining and enhancing relations between the campuses and ET&S

Duty/Responsibility

Management

  • Provide executive leadership to enterprise IT
    operations in support of strategic planning, organizational goals, relationship building/management, human and fiscal resource management,
    policy and program development and overall decision-making. Ensure the services provided by each service line are efficient and effective
    in meeting the expectations of students, faculty, and staff at each USNH institution.
  • Accountable to ensure each Service Line
    Leader enables the following:
  • Creates and maintains an established set of best-practice business processes, operational standards
    and procedures, and qualitative and quantitative metrics to ensure effective support to students, faculty, staff, and
    researchers.
  • Sets direction, establishes goals, and aligns priorities for all operating locations to meet established service
    standards and metrics.
  • Effectively collaborates with other technology and business leaders to understand, gather, and disseminate
    information regarding changes in IT operations and technologies that that may impact our customers.
  • Effectively execute their
    budget and manage risk that could impact the budget and operational performance.
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and evaluate Service Line
    Leaders. Oversee the professional development of all staff, succession planning, and performance assessments.
  • Oversee the
    development of project timelines and the identification deliverables.

Citizenship

  • Actively participate in ET&S management team to
    conceive, initiate, develop, plan, and implement strategic goals, to aid in continuous improvement activities, and to communicate current
    work status.
  • Collaborate with USNH/UNH CIO and other Orchestrators to develop strategic plans with broad impact across the
    enterprise.
  • Works with campus leadership, Executive Committees, the Administrative Board, and the Board of
    Trustees
  • Proactively assist other Orchestrators with their issues and challenges to help build success across the
    enterprise.
  • Work with USNH/UNH CIO on strategic communication including drafting key messages and leading strategic communication
    efforts.
  • Lead and deliver results on special projects assigned by the USNH/UNH CIO.
  • Collaborate with other IT
    Orchestrators, Service Line Leaders, Site Leaders, and functional teams on cross-team projects as requested or required to ensure strategic
    goals are achieved.
  • Negotiate compromises with other leaders and provide leadership as required among Service Line Leaders and/or
    external constituents to provide the best results in situations with competing demands and opposing approaches.
