Position Vacancy Announcement

The Florida A&M University Office of
Information Technology Services (ITS) is pleased to announce the acceptance of applications for the Associate Director, University Computer
Systems (Network Infrastructure) vacancy.

Responsibilities

The Associate Director, University Computer Systems
(Network Infrastructure) manages and supervises all activities of the network engineers and technicians; The areas of responsibility include
the management of the design, installation and maintenance of the Network Infrastructure, the management of business relations with network
vendors and service providers, the operation of the network operation center, the administration of the network’s documentation, experience
in dealing with customer related issues and requirements.

This position is challenged with the successful operation and maintenance
of the enterprise’s voice and data communication networks; The goal is to maintain 100% “up-time” of all network connections and services;
Any loss of performance, quality of services or network uptime needs to be managed with proper monitoring, adequate availability of
credential staff and implementation of emergency techniques as well as redundant network equipment; Directs and supervises the network of
the network engineers and technicians; Ensures that all installations and maintenance activities meet or exceed TIA/EIA standards; Plans
schedules and allocates work on a day to day basis insuring the timely completion of assigned work; Coordinates the installation of network
equipment which includes data circuits, building wiring, switches, routers and other network attached devices; Directs activities of network
operating center to ensure that all network related problems are detected and resolved in a timely and efficient manner; Participates in
network capacity planning and budgeting exercise to establish proper funding for network growth and operation; Participates in the hiring
and training of the network staff to insure the ongoing effectiveness and the overall performance of the entire networking team; Administers
the performance evaluations and recommends merit raises and promotion for the networking staff; Oversees the management, the monitoring and
maintenance of Network Service Providers contracted SLA; and oversees departmental requirements in the area of work coverage and
administrative notification.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or
appropriate area of specialization and six years of related experience; or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or appropriate area of
specialization and four years of related experience.

Recommended Competencies

Supervisory experience and
ability to plan and control projects;

Ability to communicate effectively in dealing with internal and external customers and
suppliers;

Experience with Network implementation and maintenance (WANs, LANs etc.);

Knowledge at the expert level of current
software development techniques of a large scale computing environment;

Ability to understand, and clearly relate to other members of
the organization, technical manuals, software specifications, hardware principals of operations and network infrastructure
implementation;

Ability to write networking related reports and presentations;

Ability to supervise the running of a Network
Operating Center;

Ability to participate in network cost analysis, capacity planning and budgeting; and ability to design cost
effective network systems;

Supervisory experience and ability to plan and control projects; and

Above average verbal and
written communication skills.

Pay Plan

This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.

Conditions of Employment
