Job Details and Requirement:

PRIMARY
PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION
   This position will be responsible for overseeing, managing, and providing key operational leadership
over the Information Technology Services department at Claremont McKenna College.  The position will work closely with, and report to, the
Chief Financial Officer to develop strategy and priorities for enterprise IT projects and initiatives.  The incumbent will possess deep
infrastructure and technology leadership skills while embracing the opportunity to be a strategic partner with executive leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage all operations and activities of information technology on campus.  These
    activities include but are not limited to, computing, networking, portals, instructional technology, information security, purchasing of
    equipment, maintenance of equipment, annual budgeting, and planning operations.

  • Supervise and lead staff within the
    Information Technology Services department, fostering opportunities for professional development, training, and mentoring of ITS staff
    members.

  • Manage and coordinate any outsourcing activities, including maintaining excellent working relationships with
    Information Technology Services department at The Claremont Colleges Services.  Participate in various intercollegiate committees,
    representing the College on consortia matters.

  • Establish a collaborative environment at all levels of the organization that
    facilitates input into the IT strategy development process and the communication of strategies and outcomes.

  • Provide planning
    and execution leadership for key strategic projects that span across departments and stakeholders.

  • Engage with senior
    management to determine strategic direction and priorities.

  • Embody continuous improvements in information technology services
    by participating in initiatives to implement relevant changes to instructional and administrative technology tools.

  • Keep pace
    with emerging technology in Higher Education to ensure relevancy of the College’s IT strategy.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS, and ABILITIES
:  Individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential
functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable

  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and to accomplish

    to effectively negotiate business critical agreements.

  • Engage with CMC’s technology peers as needed.

  • Ability
    to travel on occasion, as needed.

  • Regular attendance is considered an essential job function.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

EDUCATION:  Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent combination of education
and experience is required.

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum ten (10) year of experience in information technology, including experience
with managing relationships with senior leadership, Board of Trustees, or other regulatory groups. Experience in an academic setting a plus.
 

LICENSES:  A valid driver’s license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings is required.

OTHER:

HOURS:   The regular hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. 
Hours may vary due to the needs of the College or department.

CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS:  This is a full-time, 12 months per
year, benefits-eligible, exempt level position.

REPORTS TO:  Chief Financial Officer

BACKGROUND CHECK:  The

the aforementioned, in addition to compliance with requirements cited in this job description.
