Chief Information Officer (CIO)
Please note that this position will remain open until filled.
Primary Function: To provide strategic leadership in planning, developing, implementing and maintaining technology and information systems that support the academic and administrative goals of the College. The Dean and CIO will serve as a member of President’s Cabinet.
Responsibilities: (1) Provide strategic leadership for campus technology: develop and maintain an IT strategic plan that aligns with the College’s strategic plan and addresses emerging technology requirements and trends; provide leadership and direction for College technology initiatives; oversee and facilitate technology acquisitions, including researching, negotiating, reviewing, and managing vendor contracts for hardware, software, maintenance, and technology related services;; oversee efforts to evaluate, select, implement, support, and facilitate adoption of software solutions, technology tools, data security and network infrastructure services (computers, servers, internet, telephone, print management, audiovisual/videoconferencing, data storage, backup and recovery, remote access, productivity tools, integrations); provide executive leadership for the multi-campus IT functions in support of information technology systems and services; propose, develop, and monitor the development of technology policies and procedures; provide IT security advocacy and training. (2) Develop, mentor, and direct the IT staff: provide recommendations concerning the appointment, evaluation, training, development and retention of IT staff; understand complex operational opportunities and challenges and lead IT teams in the assessment, selection, recommendation, and development of appropriate technological solutions and plans; ensure that superior customer service is provided to faculty, staff and students; collaborate with local, state, and national IT leaders through affinity groups and higher education research organizations. (3) Develop and manage a five year technology budget, including annual technology project, operating, and capital budget submissions. (4) Implement special responsibilities as assigned.
Organizational Relationships: (1) Responsible to the Vice President, Finance & Operations for performance of assigned responsibilities. (2) Serves on President’s Cabinet. (3) Coordinates work with other members of the organization. (4) Relates role to College goals and mission attainment.
Performance Standards: Performance in this position is considered satisfactory when: (1) mutually agreed upon objectives have been attained within a specified time frame, (2) responsibilities of the position have been carried out at a level consistent with performance objectives, (3) effective cooperative relationships exist with all members of the college community, including working collaboratively in a diverse and inclusive environment.
Qualifications: (1) Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science or related field required; Master’s preferred. (2) Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: (a) significant experience and technical knowledge of information systems, ERP systems implementation and change management, project management, business process design and development, emerging systems and technologies, business continuity planning, as well as a record of successful management in those areas; (b) demonstrated excellent supervisory, analytical, planning, organizational, communication, and leadership skills; (c) evidence of strong interpersonal skills in collaborating with various educational, business, and/or government groups; (d) ability to foster teamwork and build consensus; (e) highly developed oral and written skills, ability to communicate complex technology concepts in a clear, concise manner to both technical and non-technical constituents; (f) demonstrated organizational skills in handling multiple and complex assignments. (3) Experience: (a) Ten years of progressively more responsible experience in a related field, preferably in a higher education multi-campus community college setting; (b) demonstrated competence to serve in an administrative capacity in this field; (c) experience with Workday software applications desired
