Provides broad oversight to the IT Division. Assesses current processes, recommends software upgrades, and directs the Executive Team on
best practices. Facilitates campus-wide delivery of services with IT support staff. Develops and enforces the mission, vision, and strategic
direction for campus technology. Represents the College’s information technology interests by participating in local, state and
regional initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Business and management principles involved in
    strategic planning, budget development, consensus-building, mentoring, and supervision of staff. Thorough understanding of trends and
    concepts of information technology and IT operations, including the management of Enterprise Application Systems – specifically course
    management systems, Infrastructure (networking, systems, cyber security, and telecommunications), and other IT service departments (Help
    Desk, Switchboard, etc).
  • Experience with successfully leading change in a large, complex organization through the engagement of
    multiple constituencies, as well as experience managing the appropriate balance between centralized and distributed IT. Prior experience
    with large scale project management. Experience in preparing verbal and written presentations to executive management and organizational
    constituents to obtain understanding and approval of current and future projects.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues,
    both logical and interpersonal. Ability to be a team player and to relate well at all levels of the College community. Ability to develop,
    interpret and implement ITS policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide broad oversight to the IT Division and facilitate campus-wide coordination,
    planning and delivery of services with IT support staff.
  • Provide leadership for the continued development of a progressive
    information technology environment throughout the College, which includes direct oversight of Classroom Technologies, Enterprise Application
    Services, Network and Systems Services, Telecommunications, IT Policy, and IT Security.
  • Develop and enforce the mission, vision,
    and strategic direction for campus technology initiatives and resources necessary to move the College forward in a competitive higher
    education environment.
  • Represent the College’s information technology interests regionally and nationally, and participate in
    state, regional and local initiatives to understand future direction and gain efficiencies where possible.
  • Provide
    leadership and management for the day-to-day operational and strategic direction for ITS. Support IT staff in continuous development of
    professional skills as they contribute to the success of the College. Plan, direct, and evaluate the operations for each of the ITS
    departments to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of services and support.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty,
    staff and campus leaders to integrate the use of technology in promoting teaching and learning initiatives.
  • Maintain a
    professional relationship with vendors to stay current with technology trends and routinely negotiate best pricing on current contracts as
    technology fluctuates.
  • Prepare the annual ITS budget and submits requests to the Chief Financial Officer, and monitors the status
    of the approved budget.
  • Establish partnerships with other institutions to create information sharing venues for win-win
    opportunities.
  • Serve as chair on the IT Governance Steering Committee to ensure technology aligns with Owens’
    strategic goals and objectives.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree – Computer Systems,
    Computer Science, Higher Education Administration, Business Management, or related field.
  • 5 years senior management experience and
    10 years information technology experience.
  • Masters Degree preferred.
  • Experience in higher education preferred.
    Infrastructure knowledge including networks, systems, cyber security, and telecommunications preferred. Course management system and Banner
    experienced preferred.
