Job Description:

Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) is responsible for directing the institution’s IT security policy and operations, and frequently oversees compliance with the institution’s IT security policies, including IT security training. This position will develop annual business plans and direct the team in the execution of those plans. Limits the risk exposure for information security and business interruption events throughout the enterprise, including oversight of third party service providers. As a member of the ITS leadership team, the CISO will be working with the other ITS managers and their teams to meet strategic goals for ITS and the College. The CISO will support other members of ITS as appropriate. The CISO will chair the IT risk and information security governance committee, and will periodically report to the audit committee of the board of trustees.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive information security program, including policies, procedures, standards, best practices and key performance indicators.
  • Manage a small team of information security professionals.
  • Own strategy and vision for the College’s information security.
  • Set priorities, ensuring effective security operations and compliance with regulations.
  • Engage with the College community to provide excellence in information security, enabling success throughout the organization while managing risk.
  • Manage the information security budget.
  • Manage incidents utilizing industry standard practices and procedures, following all relevant regulation and guidance.
  • Chair the information security governance committee.
  • Build strong relationships with College departments, and help build and feed a culture of information security awareness.
  • Advise and report on the information security program to senior leadership and the board of trustees.
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP.)
  • Hands-on skills and experience with a wide variety of cybersecurity disciplines, including architecture, data loss prevention, awareness, incident response, compliance, and others.
  • Must have a proven record of managing staff.
  • Strong communication, team building, and collaboration skills required.
  • Higher education experience is preferred.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, exempt-level level position with an annual salary. The College is committed to providing competitive market pay for its employees. The annual salary for this position ranges from $146,000 – $156,000 and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
