Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applicants for a Chief Information Officer (CIO).  This role is responsible for promoting and supporting the strategic use of information technology to advance The Citadel’s mission to educate and develop principled leaders.  Reporting to the Provost, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) serves as the senior officer responsible for providing leadership and management to the units of the Information Technology Services.

  • Will be responsible for enterprise resource planning (ERP), server, storage, and networking infrastructure, application software development, information security, instructional technologies, technical training, computer installation and maintenance, system-wide planning, management, security, and coordination of technology resources. 
  • Will be responsible for aligning information technology to academic and administrative objectives and strategies.
  • This position will collaborate with leaders at all levels of the organization and manage a team of professionals who are accountable for the delivery of information technology across campus that meets the needs defined by the business/process owners.
  • Responsible for policy development regarding information services for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Oversees the review and analysis, coordination, and approval of technology-related purchases and upgrades and ensures that new applications and technologies are compatible with existing systems and are appropriately integrated into The Citadel’s enterprise architecture.
  • Directs the planning, development, implementation and modification of all technology systems, infrastructure, and services for the campus; this includes academic, student, and administrative computing, networking and telecommunication units.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in a computer- or technology- related field is required. Must have progressive experience with technical computing/IT.  Must also have progressive experience with responsible administrative management experience. Demonstrated knowledge of the ways and methods by which technology supports the teaching and learning environment.  Extensive experience with IT strategic planning, budgeting, and personnel management and a commitment to customer service.   Demonstrated experience and skill in negotiating

Preferred Qualifications:

Ten(10) years of technical computing and IT experience.  Five(5) years of progressively responsible administrative management experience. Experience with computing, networking, and instructional technologies systems in a higher education environment is highly preferred.  Experience in a Banner ERP preferred.
