Position Vacancy Announcement
The Office of
Information Technology Services (ITS) is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Director, Information
Technology Services vacancy. This position reports to the Vice President, Information Technology Services
(CIO).
Responsibilities
The Director of
Information Technology Services – Service Center is responsible for the management, maintenance and enhancement of the Information
Technology Services (server administration and website portal) and Telecommunications Unit; Provides leadership and policy direction for
Information Technology Systems; Compiles information and reports necessary for planning, directing, and reporting program activity; and
develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure the efficient operation of the University’s Information Systems including those
covering the use and maintenance of hardware, software and infrastructure.
Directs and manages the IT services such as
voice, data, and video systems and other technology client support services; Supervises and assigns tasks to the Manager, IT Server Team;
Responsible for the management of the e-mail, telephone systems and eCommerce websites, portals and online transaction systems; Responsible
for the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of the helpdesk system as needed; Responsible for the creation of documentation of
operating procedures and systems for the Service Center; Informs subordinates of all relevant University Regulations and Internal Operating
Procedures and provides access to all related documents; Assesses and documents subordinates’ ability to comply with all relevant University
Regulations and Internal Operating Procedures; Employs measures of accountability for compliance with University Regulations and Internal
Operating Procedures; and conducts and documents performance evaluations in a timely manner for each subordinate, in accordance with
University Regulations and Internal Operating Procedures.
Performs related duties as required or deemed appropriate to
the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions of IT Services; Directs all aspects of IT Services and Telecommunications and
report directly to CIO on any major issues and resolutions; Directs and supervises IT Server Team to manage all server infrastructure;
Directs and manages Telecommunications for services rendered to Faculty, Staff, and Students; Directly support FAMU leadership team with all
technical issues; Provides enterprise solutions to CIO that drive ITS ten year Strategic plan; Supports FAMU ERP team on technical issues;
Maintains the university’s personal computers, printers, and other technical equipment; Provides reports as needed to CIO concerning all
aspects of IT Services; Directs staff supporting University Active Directory domain structure 25k plus accounts; Reviews all
computer/technical equipment purchases made by the university; and responsible for university mobile devices access and synchronization.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in
Computer Science, MIS, or appropriate area of specialization and eight years of related experience; or Master’s Degree in Computer Science,
MIS, or appropriate area of specialization and six years of related experience.
Recommended Competencies
Supervisory
experience and ability to plan and control projects;
Ability to communicate effectively in dealing with internal and external customers
and suppliers;
Working knowledge required of personal computers, software and peripherals;
Knowledge at the expert level of current
software development techniques of a large scale computing environment;
Ability to understand, and clearly relate to other members of the
organization, technical manuals, software specifications, hardware principals of operations, and general methods of applications software
development. methodologies and techniques; and
Supervisory experience and ability to plan and control projects.
Pay Plan
This is an Administrative and
Professional (A&P) position.

Employment
Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of
