The Director of Enterprise Systems leads a team of analysts and data administrators responsible for maintaining a collaborative environment with other university offices to analyze information needs and design solutions, as well as supporting data-driven decision making that will complement the University’s strategic plan. This position will be responsible for the analysis, programming, testing, and maintenance of software and interfaces that enhance the University’s Ellucian Banner ERP system and third-party auxiliary systems. This a full time, benefits eligible position; remote work will be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the University’s enterprise data system; manage the University’s enterprise data system, Ellucian Banner, and confirm proper integration between third-party data solutions and the ERP; Ensure that accurate and timely university information is reported to campus departments from these data sources, as well as private and government external consumers

  • Manage the University’s business intelligence and data analysis needs; oversee IWU’s data mart, data warehouse and reporting platform; Role involves tasks such as ETL, data modeling, development of dashboards and reports, needs analysis, testing, quality assurance, performance tuning, and capacity planning

  • Supervise a high-performing team and lead staff; set performance standards and measures; provide appropriate levels of training, mentoring, and professional development; fostering a strong sense of shared accountability and cross-functional communication and collaboration

  • Act as campus-wide data steward; serve as a key resource for ITS and the campus in terms of best practices in data governance such as data ownership, data access, data reporting, data definitions, data usage, data privacy; assign access to enterprise systems based on the principles of need-to-know and least privilege; report any real or potential risk or threat to the security of campus devices, applications, or data to the appropriate stakeholders

  • Participate in various university committees; provide expertise in the workings of our enterprise data system and best practices in data governance

  • Forecast budget needs for the department and prepare draft budget proposals for approval

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred; a combination of education, experience and accomplishment may substitute for some education

  • Minimum of eight years’ related experience; Relational databases, data warehousing, data modeling, BI stack and reporting tools; experience with Banner preferred

  • Understanding of Oracle or SQL Server databases, excellent SQL programming skills, experience with business intelligence tools
