Job Summary:

The Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a Director of Information Technology to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of a long-term department IT roadmap and to serve as a key institutional partner to the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH), University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, and UW Health system. The IT Director will be responsible for the management, strategy, and execution of IT infrastructure of the Department. The selected candidate will lead a team responsible for multi-platform application development, infrastructure support, and end-user support. The director will provide policy and program consultation to department administration and division leadership, collaborate with internal and external business partners, and lead the development and implementation of IT activities and strategic initiatives across the department and organization. The Director will report to the Associate Administrator for Clinical Services with a dotted reporting line to the Department Administrator.

Education:

Required
Bachelor’s Degree
Degree specialization: Preference for degree in Management, Information Technology, or Information Systems.

Qualifications:

Required Skills/Background:
Minimum of 15 years’ experience in information technology, with demonstrated career progression and increased management and leadership responsibilities within IT.
Must have demonstrated experience managing and directing a team.

Preferred Skills/Background:
Demonstrated healthcare experience; preference for applicants with healthcare project management and/or implementation experience.
