Goizueta Business School (GBS) of Emory University, a top business school in the thriving cosmopolitan business city of Atlanta, seeks a highly relational, user-oriented, and data-driven technology leader to serve as its Director of Information Technology Operations (Director of IT). Reporting to both the Chief Business, Analytics, and Operations Officer and University Deputy Chief Information Officer, the Director of IT will serve as a technical expert and will supervise staff who manage and support various technology service areas including: desktop and customer support; business relationship management; enterprise architecture and infrastructure; application development; and research consulting.

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

  • The Director of IT will provide overall vision and leadership to collaboratively develop and deploy new services and refine existing ones driven by the teaching, research, and business requirements of the GBS faculty, staff, and students.
  • They will bring knowledge and experience of different operating environments, systems, application development, and end-point computing to provide effective leadership and help solve problems while working closely with business users and faculty to leverage technology and streamline processes.
  • As a technology leader on Emory’s campus, the Director will help to create solutions for some of the most pressing problems in the business world.
    This leader will work closely with the central Office of Information Technology, alongside other divisions, on shared initiatives to utilize technology to improve institutional processes and continue the spirit of innovation that has become synonymous with GBS and Emory.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • Seven years of related work experience which includes the design, implementation,
    and/or support of highly complex information technology systems on multiple platforms
  • Previous supervisory, leadership or management experience over multiple technology
    domains such as systems, application development, and/or end-point computing
  • Experience providing consulting support to discover and derive technology solution
    approaches for research, administration, and teaching goals
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to distill complex technological concepts and present them in
    understandable terms to a wide variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage change in a complex, matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop staff to reach their full potential for the
    benefit of the individual and the organization

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience delivering technology solutions in a higher education academic environment
  • Experience working with AV and media services teams supporting classroom

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department of work.  Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
