UVA Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking applications for a Director of UVA Academic Networks to support the Enterprise Infrastructure team.  This position is responsible for a team 12 network engineers, and 5 network distribution technicians with a manager.  This team oversees all wired and wireless networking including intranet access on the Academic side of the University as well as other University locations. The Director of UVA Academic Networks leads the strategy for the network evolution, in terms of services and technology. They interface with the private and public cloud and storage teams in the Enterprise Infrastructure organization. The Director also interfaces with customers and ITS customer support functions to handle escalations, problems, and cases in which more complicated solutions and consults arise.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience with Network Architecture OR Equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications
  • Experience in designing/operating large scale networks
  • At least 3 years of management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in Network operations best practices: Reliability, change control, Root cause analysis, CMDB, documentation (ITILv4 practices)
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • CCNA or equivalent certification

Anticipated hiring range : $150,000 – $170,000
