The University of Iowa seeks an Executive IT Director who will provide strategic vision, leadership, and oversight for the Administrative
Information Systems department within its organization. The Executive Director provides critical direction for the strategic management of
enterprise-level applications, databases, identity, and analytics solutions. The service portfolio includes internally developed, vended and
cloud-based solutions. has an annual operating budget of almost $12M and is composed of 10 workgroups and approximately 90 staff and
students consisting of application developers, system administrators, database administrators and data science professionals.

The
Executive Director position requires strong leadership skills, understanding of complex business processes, knowledge of emerging
technologies as well as an ability to mentor/coach staff and build strong campus partnerships. They will work with institutional executives,
internal ITS leadership, and academic and administrative units to develop and deliver the institution’s administrative data and systems
goals. Key campus partners include colleagues in University Human Resources, Finance & Operations, Provost Office, Office of Vice President
for Research, and OneIT Administrative and Collegiate IT leaders.

ITS-AIS is one of six functional units in ITS reporting directly
to the Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

This is a Professional and Scientific
full-time position classified as an Executive IT Director (PIM4).

Education Requirement: A Bachelor’s degree. An equivalent combination of education and
related experience may also serve to meet these minimum requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Technology experience (typically 13+ years) including management education or experience.
  • Demonstrated and considerable
    experience successfully leading a large technology team, department, or organization.
  • A passion for and in-depth knowledge of
    administrative processes, systems, and services, including enterprise applications, databases, identity, and analytics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with software development methodologies and technologies in a hybrid environment of vended,
    internally developed, and cloud software solutions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (finance,
    human resources, research, and student systems) development, support, and integration.
  • A strong customer service orientation and
    ability to develop positive working relationships and strong rapport with various campus constituents.
  • Demonstrated and
    considerable experience successfully managing, developing, and retaining technical staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities
    and manage multiple projects simultaneously within given resource/time frames.
  • Excellent people skills and ability to communicate
    effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse technical and non-technical staff.
  • Experience managing budgets and vendor
    contracts.
  • Demonstrated job-related experience with and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the work/academic
    environment.
  • Strong leadership, team building, coaching and mentorship skills
