Hellman Worldwide Logistics has confirmed that data from its servers was “extracted” during a recent cyber attack.

Following the cyber attack on December 9, Hellman took its systems offline, however, an investigation by the company has now confirmed data was accessed prior to this action.

“We are currently investigating what type of data was extracted and will proactively provide further information as soon as possible,” said Hellman on December 16. “We are in regular contact with relevant government authorities.”

A statement on the company’s website on December 13 said a data breach could not be ruled out.

Business operations are largely running again, but the company is not yet operating at full capacity, although it aims to remove remaining restrictions soon.

The source of the attack has not been disclosed.

Hellmann offers airfreight, seafreight, road & rail, and contract logistics services with 489 offices in 173 countries. In 2020, the Hellmann Group achieved a turnover of around €2.5bn.
