A 59-year-old Dearborn Heights woman reported to police officers on Sept. 29 that she provided her identity information to a con artist who helped her apply for a faux “Pandemic Assistance Subvention” grant in return for a photo of the front and back of her driver’s license, her Social Security number, her home address, her employer and salary and other personal information.

When the fraudster asked for an “application fee,” she advised them that she did not have any money to give them. Upon reflection, she came to the conclusion that the interaction was a scam and reported it, stating that she is concerned that her identity information will be fraudulently used.
