Job Summary

The University of Kentucky International Center (UKIC) invites applications for a Director of Information Technology (IT) and Data Strategy.  The University of Kentucky (UK) is a growing public land grant, and Research 1 university. The UKIC Director of IT and Data Strategy reports to the Associate Provost for Internationalization and works with the UKIC Leadership Team to develop an IT and data strategy aligned with the UKIC’s mission, vision and the goals of the UKIC Strategic Plan. The Director of IT and Data Strategy convenes and leads a team of data management specialists in various UKIC units (ISSS, EA, IHSS, IPR) to develop a cohesive UKIC data management plan and ensure data integrity across all UKIC outputs. The Director of IT and Data Strategy liaises with UK ITS and represents UKIC’s interests in communications with UK ITS. The Director of IT and Data Strategy is responsible for strategically developing and managing the UKIC website, including design, content, functionality and updating. The Director of IT and Data Strategy engages in projects to enhance UKIC operations and advance UKIC’s goals as articulated in the UKIC Strategic Plan and leads planning for ensuring optimal UKIC hardware and software.

Given the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need to protect our university community including our students, staff, faculty and visitors, the University of Kentucky is requiring COVID-19 vaccination for all new hires prior to starting employment. Therefore, as of October 18, 2021, all new hires prior to their first day of employment must submit appropriate documentation showing, i) completion of the first vaccination against COVID-19, or ii) completion of the full vaccination series against COVID-19, or iii) approved exemption (medical contraindications or a sincerely held religious belief) through the formal exemption process from the COVID-19 vaccination requirement. For those employees who have completed the first vaccination against COVID-19 prior to their first day of employment, the second vaccination (if applicable) must be completed following the vaccination recommended schedule to be considered fully vaccinated.

  • Proficiency in html, JavaScript, PHP, Python or other related programming languages and dynamic website technologies.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and develop trusted cross-functional relationships to produce results within desired timelines, scope, and budget.
  • Proven ability in creating an inclusive environment in which all people are valued and supported.
  • Demonstrated commitment to being a visible, accessible, positive presence in the work environment.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Significant experience in international education preferred.
  • Significant experience in data management and administration in a university or comparable setting preferred.
  • Significant experience in web development in university or comparable setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated record of effective communication to non-specialists preferred.
