Job Summary
This position provides leadership over the OIT Technology Support teams – Desktop Support and Media Support. Those areas provide critical support services for customers across the college; some of which includes classrooms, work spaces/offices, conference rooms, common areas and event coverage (on-site and remote).

Essential Functions
35% – Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of Desktop Support and Media Support staff. Evaluates priorities and coordinates resources by deploying technical staff as needed. Identifies training needs and opportunities for staff development; provides staff training and mentoring. Supervises the day-to-day activities of Desktop Support and Media Support staff. Participates in hiring, discipline, and termination activities.

20% – Keeps current with the latest technologies; identifies service improvement opportunities; researches and implements industry standards, trends, best practices and emerging technologies for the work unit. Supervises systems development and enhancement and the integration of new systems with existing systems. Administers vendor and/or outsourcer contracts and service agreements

15% – Oversees, designs, develops, recommends, installs, maintains and supports computing systems, PCs, operating systems, multimedia systems, and peripherals. Identifies, recommends and implements design tools and methodologies. Supervises the provision of end-user services. Supervises the resolution of escalated issues and customer concerns.

10% – Develops procedures and standards related to the development, maintenance and documentation related to Desktop Support and Media Support. Composes, reviews, finalizes and approves reports and other work products of the unit.

10% – Manages and administers assigned budgets and expenditures; identifies resource needs and makes recommendations. Coordinates data collection, analysis and reporting activities.

10% – Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology or directly related field and four years of professional experience in area directly related to assignment, which includes two years of lead work or senior level experience.

OR

Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology or directly related field and six years of professional experience in area directly related to assignment, which includes two years of lead work or senior level experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

  1. Two (2) or more years of documented experience in management of Desktop and Media systems, services, technical documentation, and operational specifications, processes, and procedures.
  2. Two (2) or more documented years managing the support of computer hardware, end user software, media technologies, education platforms and technologies.
  3. One (1) or more years of demonstrated experience managing full-time and part-time IT staff, vendor partners, customer relationships and developing/leading cross-functional teams in an IT organization.
  4. Demonstrated experience in higher education, as a provider of technology services in a college or university setting.
