Job Description: The Instructional Technology Designer is a full-time, twelve-month position. Under general direction, the Instructional Designer will provide instructional and course design expertise to develop and support online courses and specialized educational programs. This includes the responsibility of assisting faculty in designing online coursework/ programs and the utilization of best practices in instructional design and pedagogy for online education. The Instructional Designer will manage course development projects from inception to completion.

The Instructional Designer will provide professional and technical support/training to faculty as needed; incorporate the use of Smartboards, iPads, and other classroom technology into coursework; and potentially design/supervise the production of learning objects in a variety of formats including, graphics, audio, video, and animation technologies to support online coursework and programs.

The Instructional Designer will develop partnerships with faculty to explore teaching and learning online, serve on departmental and university committees, and attend relevant conferences and seminars to maintain an up-to-date knowledge base of new instructional software and pedagogical techniques. Regular and reliable attendance on campus is an essential job function of this position, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

In pursuit of this commitment, candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology, instructional design, educational technology, curriculum design, or a related field from an accredited college or university OR any equivalent combination of experience and education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved, are required.

The following experience is also desired: Two years of experience leading professional development and providing technical support; Experience creating high ­quality online courses and programs in collaboration with faculty; Practical experience with online course management tools especially with the Canvas learning management system (including content creation/management, assessments, and grade book); Experience with quality assurance systems and processes like Quality Matters; Experience with graphic and multimedia authoring software; A good working knowledge of screen and webcam recording applications; and hands-on experience with an HTML editor.

Salary:       Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
