Job Summary

The IT manager is expected to
work as a manager and a team member with the UIT Campus Computer Support (UCCS) group. This position will be responsible to lead and direct
staff members who provide IT support to contracted areas. The incumbent must be highly organized and skilled in IT processes, knowledgeable
in multiple hardware and software platforms, be detail oriented, be able to train staff on new technologies and develop ongoing support and
how-to documentation. The incumbent must be familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. The position also
requires the incumbent to develop relationships with clientele, be approachable, have a friendly attitude and work with leadership to
develop collaborative and streamlined support efforts for the larger university environment.

Responsibilities

* Design,
develop, implement and coordinate systems, policies and goals that support the organization’s and individual department’s IT
needs.
* Align staff efforts and priorities to academic, business and operational needs.
* Ensure staff are utilizing
standard processes and information systems to improve services and efficiencies.
* Maintain and audit equipment inventories for
all clientele served.
* Manage yearly contracts for computer support for individual departments.
* Plan, organize,
control, evaluate and oversee implementation of IT projects
* Manage IT staff by recruiting, training and coaching employees,
communicating job expectations and appraising their performance
* Budgeting tasks
* Writing technical and how-to
documentation for staff projects
* Position is required to be on call
* Position requires travel on and off campus using
personal vehicle
* Expected to be available outside of normal business hours for client or staff needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalency and at least 5 years of
experience in the field or in a related area.

Department Specific Qualifications

  • IT management
    experience
  • Strong coordination, organization, time management, and demonstrated communication skills.
  • Will require
    repetitive desk work such as typing and long term sitting. Also will require some lifting, bending, and moving
    equipment.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the
position description.

Preferences

* Systems Engineering and Systems Administration experience
* SCCM
setup, configuration and maintenance.
* Use and/or knowledge of automation software solutions
* Jamf management and
configuration experience
* ITIL Foundation Certification.
* A+, MCSE, CCNA, Network+, or other applicable
certifications.
