Department Statement

Colgate University is seeking an organized, and motivated person for a
Manager of Learning and Technology Spaces position. This position provides the opportunity to evolve the design and functionality of
Colgate’s many learning and event spaces.

ITS endeavors to foster an inclusive environment that values diversity, professional

The Classroom, Digital Media, and Events (CDME) team provides
direct support to students, faculty, staff and alumni. Our expert team supports over 200 learning and event spaces on and off campus
facilitating audio visual installations, maintenance, repair, technical event support, education and consultations. Our team is in the
field, front facing representatives of Colgate University’s IT organization In this role you will work closely with other Classroom and
Event Support Specialists and Engagement and Support team to support our students, staff, and faculty and work with the rest of the IT teams
as escalations and projects require.

Accountabilities

In collaboration with campus partners, this position is accountable for the
successful operation of Colgate’s learning and event spaces across campus. This role will oversee the repair and installation of classroom
equipment, working with colleagues, manufacturers, and vendors to ensure Colgate’s standards of practice are followed. This role will assess
learning spaces frequently and develop recommendations to improve functionality that will help define the annual renewal cycle project. This
role will work strategically, as a key contributor, with cross-functional teams in the design, support, planning, and delivery of academic
technology.

This role will:

    planning, and delivery of academic technology.
  • Research, benchmark, evaluate, and provide recommendations regarding audio/visual
    technologies and learning space concepts that enhance operations and improve learning environments to promote the best possible learning
    experience.
  • Provide insight and expertise in the execution of audio visual and learning space projects through the project
    management lifecycle.
  • Design and develop infrastructure drawings, prepare AV Design documents and renderings, and schematics for
    AV Systems.
  • Manage the deployment of audio visual equipment including but not limited to data projectors, TVs, control equipment,
    peripherals, audio gear and video production equipment. Manage the diagnosis and repair, and maintenance of learning spaces technology, as
    noted above.
  • Manage the technical assignments and activities of a diverse team of student workers and cooperative work/study
    employees, and provide training and leadership to them as necessary. Design and develop how-to documentation, tutorials, and digital content
    to assist internal staff and end users to advise on the appropriate use of technology.
  • Provide expert technical support for
    strategic installations including, but not limited to, campus webcams, digital signage and presentation wall technologies.

  • Coordinate, collaborate, and consult with stakeholders (academic and non-academic) on the design of space and integration of audio/visual
    technology. Ensure that all designs are sustainable, usable, and meet end user goals.
  • Assist colleagues with event support duties
    and become proficient in the operation of embedded AV systems in event spaces.
  • Maintain general awareness of advances and current
    trends in technology. Research issues and resolutions to technical problems. Acquire and maintain technical knowledge through reading,
    self-paced training, computer-based training or video-based training, courses, seminars, and other methods as necessary.

Professional Experience/ Qualifications

  • Four years of experience with electrical technology, AV support or
    academic technologies.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer
    service skills and a high level of technical skill to classroom equipment performance monitoring, preventative maintenance, field repair,
    and stakeholder training.
  • Extremely well-organized and detail-oriented,
  • Highly proficient with computer applications
    (i.e Word, Excel, and Google Apps) and willingness to department specific software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work
    inclusively with a diverse team and serve a diverse population.

Education

A Bachelor’s Degree is
required, preferably in Information Technology, Electronics, Telecommunications, Educational Technology or a related field.

A related
degree, or equivalent additional professional experience in the activities listed in the Accountabilities section will also be
considered.

Certifications

A CTS Certification (AVIXA) is preferred.

Extron Control Specialist or
Professional Certification, preferred.
