PRIMARY
PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
  

Reporting to the Executive Director of Information Technology, the Manager of Technical
Services oversees and monitors the daily operations of Technical Services area of the Information Technology department. The Manager
provides strategic leadership in a department devoted to collaborative, stakeholder-focused adoption and implementation of existing and
emerging technologies and standards. The Manager also oversees and assists the technical computing staff in system management across both
on-premises and cloud services. 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

FUNCTIONS
:

This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The list of

  • Supervises and supports the technical staff in enterprise device management, email/collaboration, identity and access
    management, SaaS, technology and software acquisition, deployment, troubleshooting, and support.
  • Provides consultation to the
    Executive Director of Information Technology regarding technical matters and overall strategic direction for the College.
  • Works
    collaboratively with all Information Technology team providing technology leadership.
  • Maintains the security and integrity of the
    College’s resources.
  • Manages, tracks, and reports on the status of IT systems and projects.  
  • Develops plans for growth and
    advancement of the College’s technology and infrastructure including, but not limited to,: 
  • Azure AD
  • Microsoft
    365
  • Cloud Compute and storage
  • Enterprise Device Management
  • Smart classroom and conference areas
  • Identity
    connections including SSO and MFA
  • Documentation for troubleshooting, planning and institutional standards
  • Provides
    project management support for large-scale projects involving technology resources under the direction of the Executive Director of
    Information Technology and supported by the Information Technology Project Manager.
  • Develops, and implements College
    policy related to Information Technology and Information Technology Security.
  • Provides system management for all services
    including:
  • Keeping system software up to date.
  • Keeping application software on the systems up to
    date.
  • Performing regular backups of the systems.
  • Maintaining accounts on the systems.
  • Providing for system and data
    security and privacy.
  • Making suggestions for new software and hardware.
  • Implementing approved recommendations for additional
    system features.
  • Maintains networking and system management directions and provides recommendations for
    improvement.
  • Actively participates in consortium-wide technical community meetings. 
  • Perform other duties as
    assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:   

Individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to be able to
successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be
performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Knowledge of
    cloud-based services including Azure, AzureAD, M365, and related Microsoft cloud services.
  • Expertise with EDM (Enterprise Device
    Management) including MS InTune and JAMF Pro and JAMF Connect.
  • Excellent computer technical skills with servers, desktops, and
    web.
  • Ability to supervise and direct the work of others as well as works well in a team environment
  • Ability to interact well
    with a diverse campus population.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and teamwork skills.

QUALIFICATION
STANDARDS
:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or any combination of
education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and ability to perform the job.

Four or more years of
experience required in related positions. Expertise in Microsoft Azure, AzureAD, M365, InTune, JAMF, and Information Security. 

LICENSES / CERTIFICATES:  

M365/Azure certification including Enterprise Admin Expert, Mobility and Security,

Identity and Access Admin, Security Operations Analyst is preferred.

HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND
STATUS:    

This is a regular, full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt position.

The regular hours for this position are
8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Friday. Hours may

vary due to the needs of the department.

While the College values in-person
instruction and interaction as one of its hallmarks of a residential liberal arts education, Scripps College recognizes that certain
positions may be able to complete some work remotely. This position has been identified as one that can complete duties remotely. A
telecommuting schedule is provided at the discretion of the divisional Vice President and will be determined at the time of hire. The
College reserves the right to modify the telecommuting policy at any time and adjust an employee’s telecommuting schedule based on the needs
of the College and/or employee performance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:  

Supervises IT Systems & Security
Technician.

extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.  Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than the whole hand(s),
or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard.  Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see within normal parameters.  Ability to
hear within normal parameters.  Ability to bend and stoop, for example, to file.  Ability to move about.  Ability to lift and carry short
distances up to 20 lbs., for example to lift or move office supplies, files, books and packages.

At-Will Employment

Regular employment at the College is for no specified period of time; conditions and status of employment (hours, pay, title, duties,
etc.) are subject to change at any time.  Scripps College is an At-Will employer.  Employees, and likewise the College, are free to end the
employment relationship at any time, for any reason, with or without notice or cause, unless otherwise prohibited by law.

With
the goal of providing the safest campus possible for our community, the College is requiring faculty and staff to have their COVID-19
vaccines up to date within two weeks of hire date or within two weeks of when employee becomes eligible to receive a booster, whichever is
later. The College considers a vaccine to be up to date if (i) the individual has previously received two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna
vaccine and receives either a third dose of one of those vaccines or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine or (ii) the individual has
previously received one dose the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and receives either a second dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine or one dose of
the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. Exemptions for documented medical reasons or a sincerely held religious belief may be requested.
