Class Description

The purpose of this class is to provide project management and oversight of information technology improvement projects within the Information Technology Services department.

Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate’s education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Technology Management, Project Management, or related field, with five (5) years of experience in the information technology industry overseeing and managing technology operations and large-scale technology infrastructure projects. Project Management certifications are preferred.

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Facilitate, coordinate, and guide information technology projects from initiation, through review and approval, to implementation and completion.
  2. Manage project teams to assure consistency and conformance to negotiated time schedules.
  3. Manage the Information Technology Services Department’s project portfolio and processes. 
  4. Work with project sponsors to define technology project scope, goals, and deliverables. 
  5. Plan develop and maintain project activities, resources, and schedules.
  6. Monitor compliance with project-specific program requirements.
  7. Prepare periodic project status reports and executive briefings
  8. Serve as liaison between client, consultants, and contractors to define the business objectives, set timeline expectations and guide the implementation.
  9. Monitor project expenditures and approve receipt of goods and services.

  1. Meet with clients to establish an understanding of their business objectives goals.
  2. Design and plan the project and meet client’s requirements.
  3. Facilitate the project through the review and sign-off process.
  4. Facilitate the order process for hardware, software, and vendor services
  5. Coordinate with Purchasing during the procurement process.
  6. Coordinate and facilitate hardware, software, and services, delivery, and installation 
  7. Resolve problems during implementation to ensure on-time completion
  8. Ensure completion of project documentation
  9. Ensure completion of project signoff and evolution to steady state support.
