“As all court matters had been concluded, QPS was bound to accept his resignation.

“His conviction will remain a matter of public record, which will impact [his] future employment prospects. Entitlements will be a matter for his superannuation fund.

“[The] Commissioner has publicly acknowledged that a failure to discharge prescribed responsibilities in an ethical, professional and lawful manner erodes public trust and confidence in the QPS.

“The QPS has acknowledged that the unlawful or improper use of information can have significant

The victim’s violent ex-husband, to whom Punchard gave her address, fled to Greece after failing to appear in court to face a charge of breaching a domestic violence order.

The man, referred to as Robert for legal reasons, threatened to kill his ex-wife and strap bombs to their two children and blow them up as “martyrs”.

After this, Robert’s passport was flagged and he will be arrested if he returns to Australia.
