Job Description

This is a unique opportunity to work in a fun and challenging role using cutting edge technology within a young, funded startup. You will get to solve some of the most interesting problems in the Architecture and Engineering industry, like building a highly interactive space planning software, building systems to facilitate the maintenance of our product catalog, harvesting design data across our portfolio to power machine learning algorithms, with lots of autonomy. The scope of the role will evolve as the team grows, and you will have plenty of opportunities for growth and learning.

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer you will work on our backend services that are written in Python using the FastAPI framework and Postgres for the database. You will collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to build an end-to-end platform for delivering architectural retrofit projects at a fraction of the time and cost it currently takes.

We are a fully remote company with team members in Europe, USA and Argentina, and this is a remote job. We’re primarily operating in the Eastern Standard Time time zone and we are happy to hire someone with a 4h overlap with the traditional 9-5 working pattern in EST.

  • Design and implement backend solutions that facilitate simultaneous editing of our floor plans by multiple user
  • Update our current infrastructure to allow it to scale with our growing number of users
  • Implement application performance monitoring solutions and optimize our apps based on your findings
  • Build integrations with third party applications such as Order Management Systems, Matterport, Stripe etc…
  • Assist in hiring engineering staff locally and remotely

  • Python + FastAPI (SQL Alchemy, Alembic, Starlette, Pydantic)
  • Postgres as a DB
  • Google Cloud (provisioned with terraform)
  • Heroku for hosting our Apps (looking at AWS or Google Cloud for the near term future)
  • Auth0 for the authentication layer
  • React+Redux for the Front end

Requirements

  • Multiple years of experience writing backend software for enterprise services using Python
  • Deep understanding of microservice architectures
  • Proficient in provisioning and maintaining cloud infrastructure through code
  • Extensive experience with maintaining, and optimising relational databases
