Job Description

The Department of Student Affairs Information Technology has openings for two (2) Software Developer 1 positions. Under the supervision of the Software Development Manager, this position supports and develops custom software development for the Division of Student Affairs.

  • Prepare code in Test and Production environments and deploy software releases.
  • Write automated tests to verify software quality and performance.
  • Communicate status with users and update requirements accordingly.
  • Work with team to design, produce, and implement software and solutions.
  • Integrate with third-party software by creating and/or consuming APIs.
  • Collaborate with developers, identifying and refining requirements, building shared understanding while adapting evolving needs.
  • Collaborate in producing and implementing software designs.
  • Give and receive code reviews.
  • Write necessary internal documentation and instructions.
  • Continuously learn, improving knowledge and practices related to software development.
  • Flexible hours may be required.
  • Perform related duties as required.


  • Associate’s degree and four years of related experience; or a bachelor’s degree and two years of experience; or six years of related experience.
  • At least one year of programming experience writing software.
  • Evidence of ability to analyze and translate specifications into working software.
  • Demonstrated ability in analytical reasoning and logical problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.


  • Experience in Python or similar dynamic language.
  • Experience with front-end web libraries and frameworks such as Bootstrap, jQuery, Knockout.js, AngularJS, etc.
  • Knowledge of OO design, database design, and SQL.
  • Knowledge of UNIX-LINUX.
  • Knowledge of source control tool like Git, BitBucket.
