DESCRIPTION:

The Manager, Data & Analytics will be responsible for the data and analytics platforms at The Carter Center. This person will oversee the build out of these platforms as well as share the strategy for them moving forward. They will supervisor other data professionals or contractors in IT and provide data consulting to all programs and departments at The Carter Center.

FORMAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Serves as product owner for data collection and analysis tools at The Carter Center.
  • Remains up-to-date on new data features of Azure as they become available and advises management on how and when to implement them.
  • Continuously reviews, analyzes, monitors, and improves the data environment and is responsible for managing the budget and costs associated with it.
  • Implements common sector data models (Common Data Model) where it is feasible.
  • Identifies other tools that fit gaps in our environment and implements them.
  • Ensures the security of the platform.
  • Provides or coordinates data support, training, and guidance to staff in Atlanta and field offices.
  • Responsible for ongoing development of data literacy among staff.
  • Prepares documentation and diagrams of the environment to ensure records of work are maintained.
  • Responsible for supervision of data interns and staff.
  • Ensures compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Works as member of Data Governance Working Committee to create and roll out new data-related policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates with MEL to ensure best practices with data in research design.
  • Coordinates efficient procedures in support of department activities.
  • Maintains professional growth and development of self and staff by identifying educational/training programs, professional organizations, activities, and resources to maintain knowledge of national trends and to promote leading edge expertise.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field and five years of technical applications or IT experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • An understanding of Microsoft Data ecosystem, specifically DataBricks, Data Factory, etc.
  • Strong understanding of a variety of SQL databases is required.
  • Demonstrated competency with PowerBI and ArcGIS and experience with R or Python is required.
  • Experience with managing projects is required.
  • Experience with non-relational databases is a plus.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to The Carter Center on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines. The Carter Center reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
