Job Summary:

UW-Madison University Health Services (UHS) will be undergoing a redesign of their complex information technology environment to better serve and support their business processes, tools and practices. The implementation of the redesign will consist of a series of projects over the next three to five years. UHS in collaboration with the UW-Madison Division of Information Technology (DoIT) Project Management Office (PMO) are seeking to hire a program manager to coordinate and lead the work efforts between UHS and DoIT to successfully deliver this program of technology projects.

The UHS Program Manager will facilitate the partnership between the Division of Information Technology (DoIT) and University Health Services (UHS) to meet business goals with technology solutions. The successful person in this role will be tasked with understanding the business and technology environment of UHS and collaborating with DoIT on recommendations for technology to support the UHS business. The program manager will work on site at UHS to build relationships of trust and to understand the business and technology elements that comprise a world class university healthcare facility. The ideal program manager will have operational and information technology experience related to health care organizations, particularly in a clinic setting dealing with protected healthcare information. Strong project leadership and coordination across many diverse stakeholder groups including vendor partnerships is essential to ensure the goals of the program are met.

Responsibilities:
Provides advanced technical, analytical, and strategic guidance for information technology (IT) projects. Manages vendor workflow and deliverables for complex, enterprise-wide projects and facilitates project status communication to clients to support IT developments necessary for mission related functions.

  • 25% Serves as a main point of contact for clients in the development and implementation of complex and enterprise-wide projects
  • 40% Provides advanced technical and analytical guidance to project teams. Identifies and estimates tasks and applies established project management, process improvement, and budget and cost analysis methodologies to drive project completion
  • 15% Schedules and facilitates communication for the integration of vendor workflow and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables for complex, enterprise-wide projects
  • 15% Drafts and delivers project status communications and reports
  • 5% Participate in internal and external associations and professional development opportunities relevant to project, strategy, and organization change management

Education:

Qualifications:

Required
* Seven years or more project management experience working with diverse, cross-functional project teams comprised of functional stakeholders and technical personnel to implement large, complex information technology projects.
* Proven leadership skills building highly effective and cross-functional teams, developing commitment and consensus, and inspiring and motivating team members to achieve goals and objectives.
* Experience managing a variety of project tasks, such as prioritizing and planning work activities, setting appropriate deadlines to complete activities, managing vendor relationships, identifying and managing risk, monitoring and controlling budget, and effectively managing team time and resources.
* Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills as demonstrated through, a variety of information sharing mediums, and established trust and mutual respect with stakeholders and team members.
* Experience managing project teams of 10+ members, both remote, in person, and hybrid.

* Experience working in higher education
* Operational and information technology experience related to health care organizations, particularly in a clinic setting dealing with protected healthcare information

License/Certification:

CAPM – Certified Associate In Project Mgmt
