Information Technology Associate Director (IT Deputy Director) position.

Jobs in this career family develop, maintain, and support computer systems, software, and networks. Functions include enterprise
operations, distributed computing, academic computing, research computing, computer hardware and software management, computer networking,
telecommunications, systems development, database administration, server administration, website management, programming, desktop support,
and help desk operations.

Associate Directors are responsible for working closely with the Director to manage a department or
specific areas of a department. These positions recommend strategy, have responsibility for fiscal and/or human resources and have the
authority to act on the Director’s behalf.

The University of Colorado School of Medicine is looking for a full-time Associate
Director of Information Services (Deputy Director) to assist the Director of Information Services in the management of the department. More
specifically, this role will supervise all areas within the Information Services department including: Application Development &
Informatics, Web & Project Management, Desktop Support, Research & Compliance, and Infrastructure.

In addition, this position will
oversee IT operations and day to day technology needs for over 80 Community Practice Clinics with over 400 clinical and supporting staff.
The position is responsible for developing and streamlining IT support processes including identifying efficiencies, day-to-day operations,
supervisory efforts, program development, management, and fiscal accountability.

This position requires a broad understanding and
vison of information technologies while ensuring services are in compliance with rules and polices at the University of Colorado Anschutz
Medical Campus, UC Health and CU Medicine. The clinic practices have a variety of technology support models that need to be identified,
documented, and effectively managed to ensure the highest quality of patient care is met. Given the cross-cutting operational support model
for technology support in the clinics, this role is critical to serve as a bridge among UC Health Information Technology, CU Medicine
Information Technology, and the University of Colorado Denver Information Technology teams.

Supervision Received

Position will report to the Director of Information Services in the School of Medicine.

Multiple levels of supervision of directors, managers, and developers.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Serve as the central point of contact for IT operations in the CU School of Medicine Community Practice Clinic.

  • Develop network, storage, telephony, and workstation standardized models for IT deployments across the clinics.
  • Establish and
    manage IT help desk for Community Practice Clinics.
  • Facilitate issue resolution amongst University of Colorado School of
    Medicine, UC Health, and CU Medicine for IT related issues.
  • Develop cost models, recommendations, and business proposals for IT
    Operations at the clinics and across the Information Services department.
  • Service as a liaison with UC Health, University of
    Colorado School of Medicine, and CU Medicine to effectively and efficiently resolve IT issues across organizations.
  • Develop and
    direct implementation plans for expanding IT support within the partner network including meeting with department leadership and faculty.
  • Complete annual evaluations and career planning/professional planning for IT team members.
  • Evaluate the company’s
    adherence to federal technology requirements for security such as HIPAA, NISA 800-171 and 800-53, DFAR, and other regulations as required.
  • Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations to the Director of Information Services for improving efficiency and cost
    savings.
  • Ensure IT service level agreements and customer service expectations for IT are met by the University of Colorado
    School of Medicine Information Services team, UC Health Information Technology, and CU Medicine information Technology groups.

  • Develop standard operating procedures to ensure processes are followed and completed properly in accordance with current policy and
    regulations.
  • Provide oversight of IT purchasing and procurement process.
  • Provide guidance and direction for
    implementing new systems.
  • Oversee technical support provided for online applications used by Community practice clinics
    including Kronos and HealthStream.
  • Provide oversight and guidance in online system for tracking IT assets.
  • Managing
    software licensing and negotiating with vendors for hardware and software procurement.
  • Manage annual MOU contract renewal
    process with Information Services department.
  • Assist Director of Information Services with annual budgeting and financial
    requirements.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with IT Partners, vendors and executive leadership.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in
    computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from
    an accredited institution.
  • 3 years as an Assistant/Associate or Director IT position.
  • 5 years as and IT Manager
  • 5 years direct supervisory experience

Substitution: A combination of education and related
technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Required:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience supporting information technologies in an academic environment and clinical healthcare environment.
  • Directly
    managing a tiered IT help desk
  • IT project management experience
  • Experience with CompTIA A+, HIT, Network+ or
    Security + certifications.
  • Possession of an HDI Desktop Support Manager Certification
  • Experience building a tiered
    help desk in a remote environment
  • Experience building vendor relationships to ensure proper function and maintenance of
    equipment.
  • Budgeting and financial oversight experience.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning and execution
    of strategic initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with executive leadership

  • Ability to install, configure, and maintain
    personal computers, networks, and related hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory (group and user
    permissions), DNS services, and TCP/IP networking.
  • Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.

  • Ability to provide technical training to end users including being able to communicate technical information in a manner which
    non-technical personnel can understand.
  • Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family
    Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) laws as they pertain to the use and access of information stored in computer systems.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $135,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to,
internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the
University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not
eligible for overtime compensation.
