Northside Graphics launched a bespoke Training Academy to offer apprenticeships for young people aiming to get into the print industry… Stora Enso announced it was selling its Sachsen newsprint mill in Germany, with the new owners planning to convert the facility to make containerboard… Ancient House Printing Group was acquired by ambitious investment group RDCP… A charitable trust set up by Stephens & George was rewarded with a Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service… JICMail, the joint industry currency for ad mail, released data that highlighted the improved effectiveness of mail since the pandemic began… Global paper manufacturer Mondi completed its acquisition of Turkish corrugated packaging specialist Olmuksan from International Paper… Paper shredding and recycling firm Restore Datashred was fined £600,000 after a worker was killed in an incident involving a forklift truck in October 2018 at its Crayford facility… Oxford University Press announced it would break a centuries-long tradition of printing by closing its Oxuniprint operation. OUP established its own press in 1585, although it stopped printing its own books in 1989. The company was wound up in August… Fujifilm’s Japanese HQ was the subject of a cyber attack which resulted in knock-on disruption to its European business… Stora Enso confirmed that its giant Veitsiluoto pulp and paper mill in Finland would be closed down in Q3… HMRC ended a 300-year era of tax history with the retirement of its stamp presses… HH Global sealed another mega takeover deal with the acquisition of Adare International, nine months after HH’s takeover of its larger rival InnerWorkings was completed… Heidelberg took the wraps off the new Speedmaster CX 104 at its Showtime livestream event… Paragon subsidiary OT Group acquired part of the Office Depot business from Aurelius and Office Depot Europe. OT Group trades as OfficeTeam… Harrison Packaging became the first UK customer to invest in Koenig & Bauer’s new Rapida 106X press… Böwe Systec UK won a tender to supply the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency with its high-security enclosing technology… DMG Media’s Associated Newspapers division carried out print trials on its Weekend and You supplements for the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday at both YM Chantry and Walstead Bicester in a review of one of the UK’s largest print contracts… Markem-Imaje acquired tech firm Blue Bite, which develops software for brand authentication and ‘product commerce’ whereby any product can be turned into a sales channel…
